The Incredible Life & Legacy of Sam Mills with Paul Domowitch

NFL writer and longtime Pro Football Hall of Fame voter Paul Domowitch joins The Heart of Sports to tell the remarkable story of Hall of Fame linebacker Sam Mills and discuss his new book, Just Give Me a Chance to Fail.

Domowitch first met Mills while covering the Philadelphia Stars in 1983, when the 5-foot-9 linebacker was running out of opportunities to prove he belonged in professional football. What followed was an extraordinary career built on intelligence, preparation, perseverance and an unwillingness to accept what everyone else believed were his limitations.

Paul shares the story of Mills’ lifelong relationship with Vic Fangio, why coaches and teammates were drawn to his quiet leadership, and the powerful origin of “Keep Pounding,” the message Mills delivered while battling cancer that remains part of the Carolina Panthers' identity today. We also discuss why it took Mills so long to reach the Pro Football Hall of Fame and what Paul believes Mills would think of his legacy today.

Plus, Paul gives us his outlook on the Eagles, Saquan Barkley and what could be a very different Philadelphia offense this season.
